Write for Autism Spectrum News — Summer 2026.

An unprecedented opportunity to represent the community of nonspeakers and their experiences in a quarterly issue dedicated to them. Article submissions due June 17, 2026.

About the issue

ASN's Summer 2026 issue is titled "Giving Voice to Non-Speakers: Communication, Advocacy, and Inclusion Across Life." It is designed to amplify the voices of nonspeaking and minimally speaking autistic individuals and to bring together perspectives from self-advocates, families, educators, and clinicians on communication, regulation, legal and educational rights, and autonomy across the lifespan.

Topic suggestions (selected)

ASN welcomes your own topic ideas. A partial list from their call includes:

  • Choosing communication methods: speech, AAC, and other alternative approaches
  • Presuming competence: why believing in abilities matters for nonspeaking autistic individuals
  • Balancing the three pillars of evidence-based practice to support communication and autonomy in nonspeakers
  • Revisiting ASHA's 2018 position statement and the research supporting it
  • Apraxia, motor speech disorders, sensory issues, and anxiety — impacts on speller communication and mitigation strategies
  • Determining appropriate accommodations for spellers and typers in standardized testing
